Urgent - Faure Fantaisie, Can I play just the fast movement of it? How long is it?

Maestro Group: Members Posts: 30004 Joined: 18-June 04 Member No.: 1532	I have to decide what I'm playing for a festival by about 3.30 today! It needs to be up to 10 minutes, with 2 contrasting pieces. My teacher said to choose any 2 pieces, but also said the Faure Fantaisie would be a good idea. It's in June, so I don't want to choose any new pieces without my teacher's guidance, especially since I'll have my A Levels then. But I don't want to choose something I am so secure on now, because I might get sick of them. How long is the Faure Fantaisie - when you do the Allegro at about 120? Would it be deemed "incorrect" to just play the fast movement of the Fantaisie? Argh stress

Virtuoso Group: Members Posts: 7834 Joined: 18-June 06 From: Durham Member No.: 7195	If you only have 10 minutes, then I don't think they would object to you playing just one movement of a piece, especially as they want 2 pieces. Even the shortest of my complete pieces wouldn't fit into 10 minutes if I had to do 2. Perhaps pick something slow to go with it?

I don't think it actually takes up 10 minutes to play so you could couple with a fast movement of a Baroque piece (eg. 1st movement of a Bach Sonata or Quantz) or a short contemporary piece (eg. Advanced Member Group: Members Posts: 405 Joined: 19-March 07 Member No.: 10155	I would agree with hero - it's one piece and would feel 'incomplete' without both sections. I'd say it's probably 6ish minutes so you have time for something contrasting!

But I remembered just as I was there I had forgot to put an item down, and now I am doubting whether I put I needed an accompanist down. So I have now emailed the secretary. I feel so bad, and worried I won't be able to change (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
