You're welcome. Thanks again. It's a wet cold day here in Sydney but the mornings are lighter. I feed the doves that frequent our yard every morning in honour of my mother whose 79th birthday it would have been today - so I'm here now "Skylarking" as the gentle doves gather to eat their grain. They work their way in circles from the outside in. You can read about my mother in the "Tribute Pages" of my website in a piece titled "An Unforgettable Joy" - the doves are there too! Wonders of nature...... Are you from London? Blessings ever..... The days are getting longer here too, but I'm in Northern England rather than London. We're still having flurries of snow though - but not too bad and Spring is definitely in the air. Your music is a wonderful tribute to your mother's memory... |

Your mother sounds a remarkable lady ! One of my musical mentors would have been 80 today - and he was a keen amateur ornithologist. A few years ago he spotted that birds were nesting in the broken base of a street lamp just across from our house. I still see birds going in and out from time to time - yes - there's one there now. I think they might be blue tits. And there's a pair of jays just landed on the tree to the right - wow. My customer this morning for crumbs in the front garden was a little fluffy robin. ... if you talk to the world, it invariably talks back. Yes ! |

Yes, my mother was indeed a remarkable lady. Birds are lovely creatures, aren't they? I fret if I miss feeding the doves of a morning. When i visited london a couple of years ago i left a note on the fridge door which read : Feed the doves first! Blessings to you maggiemay, and to Skylark and everyone. |

I thought I'd resurrect this thread to wish Phillip a happy birthday!
As some members know, Phillip is hoping to come over to the UK from Australia in the autumn (late Sept/early Oct), and I'm organising a venue where advanced pianists and possibly flautists/oboists can play some of his music and he's hoping to come and attend. If there are any advanced musicians who would like to think about coming to this "do", I can send you some of Phillip's music to have a look at in due course. Phillip won't know until around June whether he'll be definitely coming, but I'll organise the venue in any event as it will be a nice occasion for us to get together and make music anyway - I'm liaising with a stately home in Yorkshire, where we'll be playing in the hall as the public pass through. Although this is an opportunity to play a published composer's music in his presence, it is envisaged that performers will have plenty of time to play their own repertoire as well - if anybody's interested, depending on date and location, please post, email or PM me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I should be able to confirm date and location in the next few weeks. Some of Phillip's music can be heard on his web site - www.phillipwilcher.com and on Youtube. Happy birthday again, Phillip! |
