Someone just mentioned postal strikes in a thread - (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) I didn't know they were still happening (out of the loop or what?)

Does anyone know where one can check if/when one is likely to be affected on a regional basis? Unless I misunderstood the stuff I DID find, it is affecting different areas at different times.

Big things don't fit through my letterbox so I tend to be "all ears" till the post arrives when I am expecting something, but I don't want to be keeping my ears open all day on a day when nothing is going to arrive, or to be posting my letters in boxes which won't get collections.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

So it is a long shot, but *if* anyone knows where I can check, preferably online, then that'd be brilliant.

Well we had a postal strike on more than one occasion a few weeks ago. But I had no idea that they were happening now...so lets hope the post comes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Apparently, there are going to be "lightening" strikes nationwide throughout August. They will only inform us it's happening on the day before the strike goes ahead. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) So it's a case of listening to the news or keeping an eye online I'm afraid....

I didn't have any post yesterday despite expecting some... having read about the strikes I know don't know whether I should expect it today! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I need to get a better letterbox!

I know what you need - an ultra intelligent pink letterbox (or whatever your favourite colour is!) It would tell you when it was expecting the postman to arrive! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

You'l find it's different bits each day - so one day might be collections on strike, the next day deliveries, the next day the sorting offices. Crown post offices are also involved, so far just for the odd afternoon here and there - but note that sub-post offices (the little ones) are not involved, and some crown post offices have enough staff left to stay open anyway!

Royal Mail have a link on their site that they are updating regularly - you can also sign up there for email updates.

I didn't see the email thing - thanks Maizie! It asks for your postcode etc so presumably if possible the updates will be more locally relevant. Thanks!

I really really hate postal strikes, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. At least I won't sit around any longer waiting for the post today. I'm waiting for results, books, music. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif)

In Scotland our exam results for Standard Grades etc are supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. I'm not holding out much hope of actually getting them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
