Grade 1 jazz flute - just because it was a fun exam!

Probably grade 7 recorder.

Singing exams mattered to me too much and grade 5 piano wasn't that fun. Grade 1 violin for the Grade 1 Challenge was pretty good, that'd be my runner-up.

Grade 4 piano has been my favourite...but then in saying that I've only taken grades 1 and 4!

I like 4 best because the repetiore is much better and exciting to play...with grade 1 I felt quite indifferently towards the songs, and as I was 14, I felt a bit silly doing grade 1 (even though I now realise that a lot of people - even those older than me - also take grade 1!!). But the pieces for grade 4 were much more interesting to play and so I was more motivated.

Interesting poll by the way! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I think G5 was my best exam. It's kinda hard to remember which is which, because after doing 6, they all sort of blend into one memory. But i'm sure i came out of grade 5 feeling confident i'd passed as opposed to thinking i've failed (which is what is more normal).

Grade 8 treble recorder. I knew I was well-prepared, and I thoroughly enjoyed the pieces, and looked forward to the challenge of the sight reading and the aural. The scales were the only bit I didn't enjoy.

I voted gr 2. I was fresh from doing grade 1 recorder and was still in the moment. I was just enjoying learning serious pieces and actaully feeling like i was going somewhere, the pieces where lovely, i knew all my scales and it is still to date the best result (distinction) i've ever had. if only i could have that passion again... Not a grade in my case - ATCL. I might have huddled in the car, sharing the back with the harpsichord on the way there, and had to help lug it in and get it set up, but the examiner was very friendly, with a "good morning, how are you?", I had my teacher sitting in for the whole exam because he was accompanying me and we'd arranged the recital so that the unaccompanied pieces were in the middle, the acoustics were perfect, and the music just sailed along....and the examiner stood up and shook hands with both of us at the end - warm fuzzy feelings all round, a good musical experience (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

Grade 3 piano. I was supposed to be doing grade 4, but three weeks before the exam my teacher realised that she had ticked the wrong box and entered me for grade 3. She asked me if I would take it anyway (she paid for the exam) and I learnt my pieces very quickly! I got 128 which I was pretty pleased with considering the limited preparation time.

The following term I got a merit again but in grade 4.

They were all ghastly, horrific, petrifying, nightmarish experiences - so the answer is, I'm afraid...

NONE OF THEM

Grade 6 clarinet.

Loved the pieces and it was the only time I ever had a chatty examiner who was asking me about what ensembles etc I played in at the end. The only bad bit about that exam was the aural where I think most of the 10 marks I got were for 'attempting the test'.

Grade 4 singing - I loved all my songs and found them easy and got full marks for the aural. I really enjoyed it and the examiner was lovely.

Grade 7 for both flute and piano - the pieces were 'proper' pieces, but not staggeringly hard if you know what I mean (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

For me, probably my grade 6 cello, which was the last one I did about 2 years ago. But I'm doing my grade 8 in november, so that'll probably be enjoyable too lol
