Am I allowed to say that I really don't get the point of the forum awards? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I've been saying it for ages and I'm still here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Gets sillier every year, especially when patently un-cheerful people are voted for - just shows no-one has been listening to a word they've been saying. Either that or they'd be voted for whatever the category, which also happens.

It's all good fun. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Just like a primary school popularity contest... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

(That said, I am going to post my profile picture because I put a lot of work into it and don't think any of the non-knitters will have seen it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)).

The 'fun' was said with very heavy irony - is there a tongue in cheek emoticon?

EDIT: COMPLETE change of subject: Why won't this forum let you post twice in quick succession without linking them together?

NOW:

I thought my robust, almost rude health was down to being of sound constitution and making sensible health choices.

Apparently not.

If scientists are to be believed then it can all be attributed to one (or more) of my progenitors being a Neanderthal.

Brow ridges, anyone?

Don't worry, I knew that - although I did wonder last night whether the irony might be lost on any readers who aren't familiar with the UK. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

There's no tongue in cheek emoticon (although it would be useful sometimes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)). I think this combination is probably the closest. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I don't though where else to post this question i have and i don't think it needs a thread all of it's own

I'm just wondering if i can post in the adult learners forum. mainly cause i'm a nineteen year old who is teaching herself the soprano sax. I don't know if that counts though. That's why i thought to ask any forumites out there.

And me. As far as I can see, I'd count you as an adult learner, Rach (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You are an adult as you are over 18 and are learning an instrument. Thus you are an adult learner. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

After much botheration and a trip to Vodafone, my new gadgety phone (a birthday present from Misterjay) is now working properly on the number I've always had.

However I've lost all the mobile phone contact numbers I had.

If I had your number, please could you let me know it again either by PM or by texting me your name.

thanks

I got an enquiry for violin lessons, asking me from what age....turns out her daughter is 2!!! Now she might be a "particularly bright 2" but ummmmmmmmm......

I suggested that they come back in a couple of years but go sing lots of songs, play musical singing and clapping games and listen to lots of music in the meantime....I can't imagine teaching a 2 year old!!

Everytime I look children start earlier and earlier. One day a parent will make an enquiry for their 2 month old baby! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Oh yes they will!! I'm a non-knitter and I admire you knitwits knitters a lot. I keep visiting the knitting thread in case someone goes off topic and talks about sewing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Well you'll either have to come and gatecrash and talk sewing or start a new sewing thread. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I think we talked cross-stitch on there at one point as some of us are cross-stitchers as well as knitters. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

My husband in in Zambia at the moment and he had to attend a 5 1/2 hour church service this morning! Ha! We complain at 1 1/2 hours! I think the services are often 3 hours and when the British team are there, they feel they have to translate every line!
