If my name were Violin Hero, I think that I might like being called by my surname.

I think using my surname would be acceptable if they put Mr in front of it. However it then becomes too formal sounding for the everyday working enviroment.

The worst thing is people calling me by my surname. I know it may seem like it should be my forename but it is not and my email signature clearly states my correct name.

Unfortunately my real name is not Mr Hero..............

Actually one of the systems engineers called me by surname and put Mr in fromt of it and it actually didn't sound out of place, but I can't imagine my manager doing the same or in fact any of the computing department managers doing this.

A rather silly form that I have to fill out at work - it's actually fine, until you realise that you are supposed to fill it in on the first day you are back at work after sickness absence. It asks:

First day of illness (including weekends and holidays):
First working day absent:
Last day of illness (including weekends and holidays):
Date of return to work:

The problem being that the date of return to work is usually before the last day of illness. Mind you, as I only see my manager once a week to be able to hand over the form, I just fill it in as and when. I either have to break the rules on filling it in, or lie about the last day of illness (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I *WANT* A TR6 ... the world seems to be conspiring against me to make sure I don't get one ... that also happened the last time I wanted a car powered by a straight 6.

Perhaps the world is telling me I need to stick to cars with V8 power ... thanks world... that's narrowed my choices down, albeit to some of the greatest classics ever produced!

I can recommend the grocer in the square in Sandbach. He has a proper cold room dedicated to keeping his cheeses and he keeps three Stiltons at different stages if ripeness on a marble shelf. He also stock raw milk cheeses (i.e. made with unpasteurised milk) including several different farmhouse Cheddars (which make very good quiches).

I love researching my family history. In fact I can get quite carried away researching people who are nothing to do with me, especially when looking at military records on findmypast. If I hadn't put it in the bin and shut the lid it would probably have started chasing the cat around the kitchen. At least I know what the aroma in the fridge was.
