One of SouthEastern's big problems is the bottle neck at London Bridge - it means that once something's gone wrong it takes ages to recover from it.

My bugbear is when they put on short trains - I suppose it means they avoid a cancellation penalty, but where I get on there isn't a hope of actually getting on the train. There are always people running up and down the platform desperately searching for a door that they might be able to elbow their way through.

I get the 07:26 Southern train to work which always has 4 carridges. I only get a seat about half the time and it is not even peak rush hour.

The big problem with Southeastern is when they run well, they are very good, and the trains are generally in good condition. I must admit I do like the new complimentary food and drinks service on East Coast, but I miss the proper Restaurant Car when leaving London in the evening. The food was good and for some reason the atmosphere was always very pleasant.

We have hedgehogs which come into our conservatory. The cats don't care. But, I found one in there yesterday, and even when I walked up to it, it didn't run away. So was hoping it wasn't injured/dead. But it had gone when I got up.

You'd have fun with the "local" train that shunts between Shrewsbury and Crewe then. Runs every 2 hours, often just ONE carriage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Until fairly recently, the last train was 8pm, which makes using public transport to go to say a concert in Manchester or Liverpool slightly impossible (last trains from Liverpool or Manchester to Crewe are about 11 pm).

Depends on your locus (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) If you're form Wick or Skye it probably is a fair way south. It's roughly half-way between London and Glasgow...

This is about the smallest train I've seen : it runs in Stourbridge in the West Midlands...
