Advance warning.

I will be in a thoroughly foul mood tomorrow : London Buses are on strike, and unlike many Fridays, when I can stay in, I need to be out in the melee. It will be trying and miserable, and commuters will all be grumpy and snappy at each other.

oh no (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grouphug.gif)

Oh yes.

I can do all my travelling by train tomorrow without diversion, but they will be very crowded, even in the middle of the day. Many commuters will snap. Unfortunately, I'm blessed/cursed with the likelihood that I'll reply to any commuter who's rude to me. It won't be pretty...

Oh I shall. I cannot abide people who are rude or unpleasant to their fellow travellers, and I will say so. Not so long ago, there was a man (early 60s, I'd say) with an elderly lady in a wheelchair, who was really screaming at the bus driver because he dared to move forward a few feet to deploy the wheelchair ramp. I told him to moderate his foul language, there were children on the bus. He gave me a selection of rude words back in reply, with the promise of wheelchair tyre marks on my feet. Charming man....

I noticed it, but my day job keeps me chained to a desk in London on weekdays...

Why not mention it in the Events thread?

Would have loved to as I'm back home in Brighton now for summer but I'm actually headed back to Southampton that day to see Rhod Gilbert (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

One of my former colleagues walked her less-than-7 year old all the way up Snowdon ..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) . I think child was about 4 or 5 at the time .....

Probably the exception rather than the rule. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think it depends on how motivated the child is and this in turn depends on what the scenery is like (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
My two (aged 5 1/2 and 8) once did a 15 km walk and complained that it was too short (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) But much of it included going back and forth across a shallow stream using stepping stones. At the same age they would also complain that a five minute walk to the local shop and back was too far...

Yes, they arrived this morning.

It will partly depend on if they are used to walking any distance.
