Civil Enforcement Officers are fab (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) yellow stickers are fab too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) especially when they happen to be stuck on the windscreen of a large flashy car whose owner thought he could park in a 5min bay about an hour ago (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Am looking at cheap hotels prices in case of a training course at work later in the year.
If I go to the nearish Travelodge and book a four night stay, it offers me 59.50 per night.
However, if I book four separate one night stays, I can get the saver-rate for one night stays and get the room from 19.00 per night (different rates for the different nights). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I wonder if I book as four separate nights whether I really have to check in/out four times, and clear out of my room each morning and book in to a new one each afternoon...!

I doubt that you would have to change rooms. Its just the way their systems are set up.

I often find that 'expensive' hotels work out cheaper than 'budget' hotels, especially when you consider that Travel Lodge, Premier Inn, et al do not provide breakfast.

(Equally, I have often found cheaper First Class rail tickets than standard for the same journey on the same train, simply because nobody would think of looking at First if they wanted to save money.)

The last time I stayed in London (at short notice) I got a night at the Copthorne for 94 GBP including breakfast. The cheapest Premier Inn, which was further away from my meeting, was 122 GBP.

Try one of the hotel booking websites to see what you can get.

Due to proximity to Heathrow airport, there are no cheap ones nearby! Booking sites explored thoroughly over the past few days (for both late July and mid September stays) reveal that there is one cheaper place but it is continental breakfast in your room, and no dinners. Whereas, the Travelodge can include breakfast and dinner as an extra.

I was given permission to book via work, and pay it myself, because it's a business reason (but my personal choice so I was paying). The cheapest one on our preferred hotel scheme wanted 80 per night, without any food included. And with having to pay to get to the Heathrow bus station in order to then get a public bus to work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Anyway, there website says if you book consecutive one night stays, you can tell the hotel and they'll try to arrange you the same room (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Travelodge rates change all the time. You might find that if you wait a few weeks, prices will go down - or up! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

At least you know what to expect with Travelodge; we've used them a lot and find the beds very comfortable. That's not always been the case when we've stayed in budget hotels.

Exactly why I chose them. It's not going to be snazzy but all I'll need to take with me is my Kindle and a bag of chocolate raisins and I'll be fine.

Plus, the first set of dates (the ones I have booked, as opposed to the ones I am viewing far ahead for) are during the Olympics, so finding anywhere at a reasonable price was good. As before, I found one place that was cheaper, where I could still get to the office relatively easily (no car when I do this), but that didn't have any eating facilities. So I paid a bit extra to pre-book my two-course-plus-drink dinner with the Travelodge. Like the rooms - it won't be gourmet food, but it will be edible and get me through the couple of days (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Possibly the olympic effect? I was going on a hotel based summer school which is usually in June but they've postponed it to October because of price inflation for the olympics.

EDIT: Oops - see you said it yourself.

I was just perusing Google regarding a CD of recorder music. It provided me a link to a thread on this forum from 2007. Which it seems I contributed to, tentatively suggesting the fact that I thought I might perhaps have a preference for baroque music (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Who knew where that was going to end up?!

It's nice to not have to feel like I HAVE to flute practise. Although, after having a week off, I need to get back practising!

Can't sleep. Can't decide between reading a magazine, taking the dog for a walk (who is deeply asleep, oh and it's raining), doing some work, watching a film or surfing Amazon for stuff I don't need (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Well, it didn't stay away long enough for me to clean the inside of my car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) It's throwing it down now.
