Aquarelle mentioned goldfish in her thread about her little quail and I just wanted to tell everyone that I have had my goldfish for about a year now and they follow my finger up and down the wall of the tank.

It's just so cute!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Why are those awful Grieg 2-piano arrangements of Mozart's sonatas played so often on the Radio 3 overnight programme...

Presumably because they expect very few listeners at that time of day/night and save their best material for primetime.

The thing is, they play plenty of other good stuff on that programme, but I notice that these in particular get an airing every fortnight or so.

Shudders.... I encountered them waiting in the Emirates lounge at Manchester airport on a business trip a while back. There did not appear to be any more brain cells in evidence out of the public eye.

Radio 3 playing another lot of stuff for 2 pianos including some arrangements of pieces originally for 1 piano, but unlike the Grieg Mozart sonatas, these arrangements seem to be much more appropriately done. It's interesting to compare why - I think it's because the Grieg arrangements have extra countermelodies written on top of the original lines (and some harmony changes), whereas the arranagement of the Chopin Nocturne I'm listening to just has added texture but the melody and harmony are the same.

I took our daughter and two of her school friends to the pictures yesterday afternoon. The mother of one of daughter's friends was due to bring them home.

Anyhow, at about half past five daughter was returned home as promised, gliding along our driveway in a brand new XJ Jaguar. Seeing this our 18 year old son ran downstairs to greet her, (this very rarely happens), and asked his sister what the car was like. "Oh I didn't really notice" she replied, shrugging her shoulders. "It's the same colour inside as dad's."

That says it all really doesn't it?

It's been a very strange few days, and I have hardly managed to get here. Interview at 8.20 am on Thurs....You will have seen, no doubt about the spanish wildfires around Marbella...well DH was at our house in Fuengirola, and spent Thurs night rescuing dogs and cats from a rescue centre that was in great danger (the fire took the cattery) by driving the Landrover up the river bed. I got a call on the way back from band to ask for help to coordinate so spent hours on the internet / phone!!

Then last night, a bomb scare at the bottom of our road which closed the border for 3 hours and 3 controlled explosions...

And my first triathlon this morning!

Next week back to teaching, work, and 3 band gigs...and DH away so all the other stuff to do. Not sure how I'll get through it all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Crazy days (but loving it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
