And so the killing begins (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

My 12 year old sister came home to find feathers everywhere, then went upstairs and there was a ###### pigeon carcass in front of the airing cupboard (we think it was a pigeon, there wasn't much left though, only a foot and a bit of wing according to dad, but that's what the feathers looked like) and either a head or an organ on her floor. And blood all over the kitchen rug. Yummo.

Well, if you will keep a cat...

Do I need to go out and get really drunk before I go to university? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) My friends seem to think it's a rite of passage so to speak...but some of them regularly go out and get hammered. I've been "out" a few times, and to loads of house parties and things, but I've never been drunk - and nor does the idea appeal to me! Any thoughts?

I would advise NOT doing that. Plenty of time for that when you get to uni (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

(You definitely don't have to do it there either, though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) )

No you don't. Loads of people don't! It's harder to avoid when you're actually at uni, but still possible if you feel strongly about it. Don't stress too much about it, some people enjoy it and some people don't and there's nothing wrong with being in either category. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You don't have to get drunk. I enjoyed (and still enjoy) a drink or two, or three (!), but have never been absolutely drunk out of my mind, and have never felt I've missed out on things because I've never got really drunk.

What exactly is the appeal of getting so drunk that you forget what happened during the evening and/or you're sick everywhere... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I've never gone out with the intention of getting drunk. I think that thought is awful (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) However, I have occasionally found myself rather drunker than I'd like (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif)- usually through getting a bit carried away, larger glasses than I've realised, mixing drinks or drinking when underfed or too soon after being a bit under the weather.

All things I've learnt to try to avoid. It is all about learning your limits but being drunk is not a nice feeling. Quite the opposite in fact. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) A couple of small drinks can create a quite nice relaxed feeling. Much more is not a good feeling.

Don't be pushed into anything by your friends. I'd say uni is more about developing maturity, independance and responsibility than getting drunk. Yes many students go too far. Do you want to be one of them? Answer that and you have your answer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It's really interesting seeing all these "about-to-go-to-uni" students being more worried about the social life than about the work. My daughter and a few of her friends are worried that every-one will be off clubbing! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) Won't listen to the voice of reason. The idea is to stop slightly short of that point. The appeal is in losing one's inhibitions.

I went too far - it didn't do me any harm in the long run.

Thank goodness! I was starting to feel slightly hunted. It is fun!
Not that you have to do it if you don't want to, but what's wrong with it, if you do?

Those of you who witnessed my 'singing' at Stalybridge will know that I don't need any alcohol to start losing my inhibitions. I was drinking tea (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Flossie and Babybird2 stopped me from ordering a pint of Rob Lee beer at the Stalybridge Station bar. Because it was Newcastle themed and they are both Boro fans... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

So I had moon beer instead.

Don't know what was in it...
