haha yeah i guess, oh well whats done is done. just have to get my finger out and try and squeeze in an extra hour or two practice....if i just dont go to work...i'll have it sorted

Explain to your teacher what happened, and play them the piece you have learned to prove you actually have been practicing? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

that could work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) but the piece i have learnt is far tooooo easy and i thought she set it as i was rubbish last lesson, and if i go with a not learn piece this lesson i'll be rubbish again lol coupled with my inhability to play my exam pieces without at least one mistake and i just cant get scales to stay in my head..........perhaps i should finish this post in the Aaaargh thread lol am just very frustrated with myself at the moment

It'll get better, Clari-Netty-the scales will just "click" randomly and that'll be it, you'll be fine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) are you taking an exam this session? If so, you still have a while yet to really work on your exam pieces without any mistakes, I bet you'll be fine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

thanks fran*piano, yes am taking clarinet Grade 3 july-ish. i am getting myself all in a tizzy as have only been playing since december, so sorry for the little winge, i have pulled myself together had some dinner and am off to bed..tomorrow is another day and another cance to get things right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

3 of my friends are now getting married this year.... Nooooooooo! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) They will end up needing a pass to go out, I know it!

This is after a handful of friends splitting/getting divorced over the past few years... I thought maybe some might have been a bit cautious after seeing the others' mistakes! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I started clarinet about a year and a half ago, and when it comes to exams, I feel the same as you. If you don't feel ready to do the exam, wait until next term. Why the hurry? You must be doing well, but if it's having this effect on you, a few extra months might be a good idea. My teacher was fine about my decision to [s]chicken out[s] defer my clarinet exam, and I'm sure your teacher will understand too. Good luck!



Thanks noodle i must admit chickening out has crossed my mind once or twice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) , but i really dont want to give up on it, i dont like quitting and i'm still hopeing i can pull it together in time and am trying do get in as much practice in as possible. i have approximately 50 days practice left (till the first week of july) thats a potential of 100 hours (as i do on average 2 hours a day - some days more somedays less) if nearer the time i think i am setting myself up for a stunning fail well we'll seee......but hopefully i would have made a good progress by then and be more confident. Aw, come on, be happy for them! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Only half of UK marriages end in divorce, so they have at least a 50:50 chance of making a go of it.

Thansk Noodle....it does seem a lot, but thats potential...i dont know if i could stick to a strict regime like that but i wil try to do as much as poss and see how it goes. thanks for the advice noodle, its an option, i admit but i will try my hardest to not make that choice lol

Nope, not jealous at all (just a tiny bit selfish I suppose), I love my freedom (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

EDIT: I look at the cost of an average wedding, then think about the cost of a decent grand piano. No contest, really!

It's possible to have a lovely wedding which costs much much less than a grand piano! It is amazing though how much the average spend is (when I look at how far below average mine cost, I can't help but wonder about the couple who were the same amount above average!)...so much stuff ends up being done because that's what 'ought' to be the case.
