Been watching some old X-Files on Sky. Remembered that the actress Gillian Anderson has the most kissable lips on TV. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

Thanks for all the various PMs and emails I've received over the weekend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm going to be away from the forum again today, but I'll get round to handing out proper responses to everyone from tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Ignorance noweth no bounds. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

SB Junior is quite tall at about 6' 2" the last time we checked, which makes it difficult for him to use the pedalboard on one of our local church organs. The bench is 19.75 inches above middle C, whereas I believe the RCO currently recommends 20.5 inches. Even that is too low for many taller organists.

The obvious answer would be to raise the stool, or make it adjustable, as others have similar problems with it. I have offered to do any work myself.

I have now had a fruitless exchange of e-mails with an elder member of said church, whose response was that Harrison & Harrison are a well reputed organ builder, (I knew that), and that he thinks it extremely unlikely that they would have built an organ with a stool which was too low. He also pointed out that the organ was installed in 1889, had been played by many eminent organists since then, and it has been OK until now, so any changes would be made over his dead body!

How can you argue with that kind of logic? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

If he had made similar comments about a disabled person he could well end up in court.

SB

One organ I used to play regularly had a fairly low bench. Previous organist, who was taller than me had left two wooden blocks to put at either end of the bench. The blocks had a groove which ftted the profile of the feet of the bench, so it was quite stable. Im 5ft 11, but preferred the higher position of the bench so I used the blocks too.

Opposite my office desk is the entrance with a window with tinted glass. I have a good laugh each time people approach the window and take a good look at themselves (thoroughly) without realising that someone is seeing them from the inside..
