Discussion Of Examiners, A few guidelines Options

Hi everyone,

We appreciate that exams and exam results are likely to be a popular topic at this time of year, as they are after every exam session.

However, the forums team have noticed that more and more frequently, examiners from ABRSM and other exam boards are now being named in discussion threads - on occasion, they may even be the subject of the discussion.

Whilst we've got no problem with the generic discussion of examiners, we'd ask you all please to refrain from naming individuals as part of these discussions. These forums are accessible to the public and read by a wide variety of people - including examiners. Please consider how you would feel if your character or daily work were being analysed or commented on in such a public fashion.

ABRSM welcomes and encourages feedback that you may have on any aspect of our exams service - from making your application, to the exams centre, right through to receiving results. What to do if you have a complaint
If you have a complaint or would like to make an appeal regarding your exam, ABRSM has a formal procedure in place to ensure that these are dealt with promptly, professionally and objectively. The same should be true of other exam boards. I would encourage you to use this method and not the forums to register complaints as it allows us to formally record and proactively deal with any problems that may have arisen.

Forum members are able to respond, though. Examiners aren't. The other thing is that when forum members are criticised, the rest of us are able to see exactly what they are being criticised for, and we can arrive at our own informed conclusions. When people criticise specific examiners we have no idea how subjective the criticism is.
