You were lucky. It was busy for me today. Being in IT Support one never really knows in advanmce if it will be a busy or quiet day.

I've given our IT support some work this week. I got a new laptop at work couple of weeks ago, rolled-out onto the new platform..

My screen image (external monitor) started breaking up intermittently - the worst kind of fail. He eventually came over to see me (after I'd logged the call at the eastern European call centre... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) - the local guys are in the next building 50 yards away (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I would seriously like a bean counter to explain to me how it is more efficient and less expensive to run things that way).

He tighteneded a few things up. Seemed to work.

Failed today. Gave the guy a bell and we've switched an interconnector over and switched to a DVI cable... seems to be working.

Anyway, finished for 2 weeks now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hurrah.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yay.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party2.gif) NLMS TOMORROW !!!

You should have called me. I would have been straight over to help! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Ona serious notes as someone who does not make the firm money I get an old laptop which really does need to be replaced sooner rather than later. These particular laptops are between 4-6 years old. The people who make the firm money get decent laptops, but even they are 2 years old.

I should also think about some PTO (paid time off) as I have 11 days to take before Christmas.

1) Sitting with Bagpuss in my garden in the sun this afternoon, a large Pimm's in hand, watching my two cats potter about and talking about Life.

2) The thought of going to the BKA Summer School tomorrow - off to Cheltenham in the afternoon. Looking forward to seeing forumites benjaminja, Bass Clef, Rosie91 and hillyb there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

ARGH. Of course I am NOT looking forward to seeing JudithJ AT ALL. I knew it was too late last night when I posted to be thinking straight and I had a horrible feeling my list wasn't complete...

Remember the issues with daughter's swimming club??? We just received a letter from the club, (dated 10 days ago!) saying that she can restart training with B squad in Sept, but detailing A squad times. Now we are confused.... we have emailed them for clarification and what it means competition-wise if she is demoted to B squad.

If the letter is correct, then we are wondering if her old trainer will be training her alongside A squad - possibly because the head coach doesn't want to train her anymore!! The B squad trainer was the one that put her forward for the Island Games - he has always had a lot of respect for her and particularly since Nov last year when she took herself up a gear. We are wondering if he has backed her up on this one and refused to let her be dropped....

We await the return email, but this could be very good news for her as she might end up with 1-2-1 training which will just make her quicker (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) At least she will still be able to compete locally even if she can't do the international meets...

Or, of course, it could be a typo (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
