re-reading the 7th harry potter (which is a bit odd considering that it is very dark and tragic).

My maternelle class were delightful today. Worked well, played well and were nice to each other.

Well this is a made me happy last night but I'm still smiling today!

I played in a band concert last night in which I played a recorder duet as 'something to contrast with the band stuff'. Three members of the audience came up to me afterwards saying that they never knew a recorder could sound like that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) the more people who can be convinced that the recorder is a great instrument in its own right, the better, in my opinion...

Well done you! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Several of the audience members made similar comments after our garklein ensemble!

Well done though for playing your recorder and convincing a few more people that recorders are nice, and not just nasty plastic things for squeaking out "London's Burning".

A while ago I posted a panicky thread about my neighbour who threatened council action on us because of our music practise disturbing him.

A "For Sale" sign has appeared outside his house today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I had 3 cups of tea in various places around town with my friends (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

And I got paid £12 for 90 minutes where I work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Don't we all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

What made me happy today was playing the slow movement of Vivaldi's spring in our school 'orchestra'. Somehow we ended up with 6 people playing the tune across 4 instruments. I then enjoyed the interesting canon effect as the violins ignored the bars rest at the start, flutes/sax came in at the right time with me, then the flutes drifted out, the accompanying parts moved to opposite ends of the (rather large) school and through it all the violins merrily played on until a particularly discordant note when they realized what had happened. Cue entire tune section dissolving into laughter along with conductor while the accompanying parts looked bemused (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Oh, did it help? A recent study indicates it's particularly effective against neuropathic pain (which is what a migraine is). Specifically, in rats, considering just neuropathic pain, it's almost equipotent to morphine. For other sorts of pain, it's about a fifth as potent. So I can certainly imagine it working well for migraines. I'm not sure how much of my pain is neuropathic, but it's good stuff - and, relevant to the thread, makes me happy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).

It's one of the very few things that helps! The other one being kapake, which I think is more or less co-codamol with extra codeine.

I first got Tramadol when I had a migraine one evening - and had run out of medicine (I've learned my lesson). I was screaming with the pain so my sister made a run to the emergency doc and came back with it. I'm now down to a migraine every couple of months or so but after that experience I keep tablets on me everywhere I go!

I always laugh when I see those forehead sticks that are supposed to help migraine. About as useful as a chocolate fireguard (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

One of the violin teachers at Guildhall brought in the most sticky, wonderfully chocolatey cake I think I've ever eaten.

She later told us her secret ingredient is...MASHED POTATO

A comatose pigeon I picked up two days ago came ot of its coma and flew off into the bright blue sky. It had, I think been hit by a car. Now I know pigeons in towns are a nuisance and what made me happy today might make others unhappy but we do live in the country and they aren't a nuisance here!
