Asked for help with finding a score on Viva Voice at 14:50, and had a very kind answer within 15 minutes! The forum at its very best (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sing.gif)

11 hours of sleep, then turning on my computer to find that my 9am lecture is cancelled (nothing else till 1pm) and my student loan has FINALLY turned up! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm glad that has been sorted Sarah. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It won't make any difference to my standard of life - all but about £50 is going to the college. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) The only difference getting it has made is that I won't be fined for not paying the bill. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I don't understand how so many students manage to spend so much time and money on drinking, even in student bars if they are on an allowance that == pittance. When my cousin was at uni I did a sort of sponsorship thing so he didn't die of malnutrition! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) The caveat was that he has to buy me a Ferrari if/when he becomes famous! I think it really depends on how much your parents will give you or how much you earn during the holidays.

What I found really quite disgusting was that there was a paintball company sitting outside the students union the other day who, when someone said they couldn't afford it, would go into 'so when does your student loan come through' and just wouldn't let the person go. Using the hard-sell tactics on someone who clearly doesn't have the money to throw away... great! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I do know a few people who have been guilty of misusing funds and really struggled because of it. Lesson learned the hard way for them! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) At least you're all sorted now... I take it the catering is included in the rent in your accomodation? The fact that you are fed is one big pain handily sorted out to be honest.

I think the tactics used in an alternative situation are people living on beans on toast so they can afford to go out drinking! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Yeah, food is included, so that makes things easier. Books are expensive but, for maths, it seems you can get away with just getting them from the library when you need them. There aren't many other things that need to be payed for that amount to much so what you spend pretty much depends on how much you go out and stuff.

For those who didn't know, a few weeks ago, they went into administration, and it was feared they would have to close.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/yay.gif) A really, really good concert, and then an after-show party where people actually spoke to me (other than my particular friends). It was really fun, even though I hadn't got a solo. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
