At school today we did mock solo performances for GCSE music, and I somehow managed to get through it! I played Clair de Lune and made several silly mistakes but kept going, though I was shaking like a leaf, and the music teachers said it was good, so fingers crossed... at least now I can relax through Wednesday and Friday's lessons while everyone else plays!

My sister recommends a gingerbread latte - special for Christmas! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I'm happy because Shannen and I walked for three and half hours today and - though it was freezing cold and I thought my extremities would fall off - I had a great time! |

The anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. Many years ago I crossed from West to East and back again in a British military vehicle. I nearly didn't get back as the East German guards questioned my passport. I had to hold it up to the window of the vehicle for them to examine more closely. I remember the dreadful silence in the restaurant in East Berlin where we ate and the stares of the East Berliners - and the goose stepping of the soldiers.
So I was happy to see a festive Berlin on television this evening. |

And generally I'm much more a tea than a coffee person... |

When I moved into my flat a few months ago, I was told that I couldn't play the piano after 10pm, or before 8am.
A couple of weeks ago I discovered that the regulations for my building actually state that no sound should be made that can be heard outside your flat after 11pm, or before 7am - giving me an extra two hours of practice each day. I had been really frustrated by my progress recently, because I do my best practice between 10-11pm and 7-8am. I had my first voice lesson in a couple of weeks today, and my teacher was obviously very pleased with the progress these extra two hours have enabled. So was I. (Shh, don't tell Cyrilla, or she'll be expecting great things on Monday.) |

Going to the gym for the first time in years with Barry. I rowed 2000 metres, cycled for 10 minutes and ran for 15, then I was kna*kered. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) So I went in the sauna to recover. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
