Met an old friend for lunch (though he didn't appreciate being called "old" friend) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

My daughter!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)
Surpassing everyone's expectations (except mine because I knew she could do it) by swimming length after length after length of the school pool (17m) without wearing her arm bands. She's only recently developed the confidence to swim out of her depth without her bands and then only with me alongside her. I'm so proud of her and she had a HUGE cheshire cat grin on her face when she came out of school today too - she's so pleased with herself too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yay.gif) :party 2: |

WOO!!! Three lovely colleagues and I have just been asked to go and run a session each in Hungary in October - it's the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét and the lovely new young director of the Institute has asked us to go and do sessions on the adaptation of Kodály in the UK.
Up to now, only one person from the UK has ever been asked to teach at the Institute. Gosh. VERY scared but VERY excited!!! I have a pupil who is just 13, who has a chronic illness. She is tiny on account of her ill health and is on a horde of medication. She is always happy and positive. If I say 'Have you had a boring day at school then?' when she walks in, she says 'Actually, I like school'.
At the moment she is really quite poorly- can't eat solid food, has an endoscopy today, change of drugs on Monday- Grade 5 on Monday too. I was talking to her mum and she said that the girl had told her Mum that they were a lucky family. Her mum asked her if she thought she was lucky and she said yes. She said 'My friends don't think I'm lucky but I do'. She had her final lesson on Wednesday- and it all sounded beautiful. She has been sick a fair amount this week- she never says anything. She looks kind of tired- but just gets on with things, with a smile. It made me realise that getting stressed over trivia is pointless. This girl has a lot to deal with but just gets on with life, with good cheer. It's good to be educated by the younger generation! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Yes, it is indeed good to be educated by the younger generation - they can teach us a lot in this sort of situation. |
