We're always getting emails about scholarships and awards through, that I tend to ignore... But today I got one, which was an award for original prose (creative or academic), and an email from my former tutor, recommending that I enter. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) So that made me smile.

And are you going to?

Maybe. I'm not sure what I'd enter, but since someone thinks I'm in with a chance I'll probably pick whichever essay I've written that's got the best marks... Although that's written on a fairly commonly discussed writer. Dilemmas, dilemmas.

I'm just pleased that someone I like and respect thought I was good enough. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That's such a lovely feeling! Everyone has doubts about their own ability at times, and it's a great boost when someone you admire thinks you cut the mustard. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Last night, actually: sneaking in on a rehearsal of the National Symphony Orchestra and Choir: Fauré Requiem, Berlioz Rákóczi March, Kodály Háry János Suite. Yum yum.

Then message from teacher to say he wants me to learn the Schumann Romances. Oh terrifying but happy prospect!

Considering you were a bit concerned about her over the last weekend, that really is good news, and it is no wonder it has made you happy today. I hope it keeps up for her and you.

Yes! The piano part too. Not just plain accompaniment.

I have just given my grandson his first piano lesson, and he managed hands together after only a couple of minutes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) .

[He is six and a half months, by the way (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ]
