I ran through all my scales today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) - first time for a long time; at least since last year's Grade 8 preparations - all 156 of them, in a row. Good job they were played on my Clavinova with headphones on! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I have played scales since last year, but not the whole lot, like in the good old days. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Going to a lecture on genetics and evolution, ....

At the university? Local college?

Have you read any of Richard Dawkins' books on the subject? Forget all his controversial polemic regarding religion, his books on evolutionary biology are gems. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

At the bioscience centre at the Life Centre in Newcastle, and I can't say I have! It was given by Dr. Matt Ridley, who's book I've just borrowed from a friend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well remembered! I'm sure I'd never remember so many a whole year after learning them. I haven't made much progress on my scales recently. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) The ones I know are getting more fluid, but there are too many left to learn!

A wonderful opening concert for the Beverley Chamber Music Festival, by the Cropper/Welsh/Roscoe Trio. It culminated in a magnificent, and very moving, account of Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50. A rarely heard work. Six more concerts, plus masterclasses, to go before Sunday. Sounds lovely, oldnotes. I hope you enjoy the rest of the concerts too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

What will make me happy is listening to the first programme in a new series of In Our Time with Melvyn Bragg, later this morning at 9.00 am on Radio 4. Why?

.... because the topic discussed will be IMAGINARY NUMBERS ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yay.gif)
