Passing DipABRSM! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

(Sorry, I just found out two minutes ago and I'm a bit overexcited... I probably shouldn't be posting about this in every thread I come across (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif))

Congratulations. You should post it everywhere it fits - just expect complaints if you add it to the scream thread

Being able to practice my clari for more than ten minutes before a coughing fit started has made me happy today. Actually got about forty minutes practice done (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Glad to hear you are starting to feel better.

Thing that's made me happy - the shower after going to the gym for the 1st time this year.

Buying a lovely warm winter coat. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) I've been wanting one for a couple of years, but they've always either been too expensive or ones that I really haven't liked. The one I've bought is absolutely gorgeous. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) It's pure wool, in black (so will go with lots of different things), has brass buttons including 3 on each sleeve, real pockets (with buttons to close them) and a silky turquoise lining. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) The buttons don't go all the way down to the bottom, so it's easy to walk in. It's the kind of coat that would normally be around ?100, but I got it for ?30. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) It's a bit big, but they didn't have the next size down and it does mean that I can wear really think jumpers/cardis underneath when it's very cold.

How on earth did you survive the northern winters before? It sounds nice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Don't forget that we're pretty hardy up here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) It's the first time I've ever owned a proper winter coat. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

That said, even I got cold the other week when I spent 2 hours on the platform at my local station (having already spent nearly an hour waiting for a bus). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Yes, it was snowy... and I couldn't wait inside at the station because the room was too full (which is what happens when the first northbound train of the day ends up leaving at gone 9:30 instead of the fist one going at 6:30).

After doing three weeks with no violin practice, I managed to do an hour and half today. I nearly thought I forgotten everything, but after doing about an hour of scales everything started to come back to me. I've also got my first violin lesson of 2011 booked for next Monday.

I consider myself fortunate that I don't feel the cold too much; which is just as well given the time I spend in cold churches! Talk about suffering for our art! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I also have a passing interest in trains, and have come to the conclusion that railway stations were created the coldest places on God's earth. Even in summertime they can be cold, and there are no glowing coal fires in station waiting rooms these days - just a miserable electric heater if we're lucky. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
