PT (Physical training) at cadets - I managed to beat a number of the boys at sit ups and press ups*! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

*all right, I did the girl version on knees, but still...

Due to a freak of nature I can do 20 press ups (the non girl version) -- my arms are horribly thin and weedy, but I have hardly any upper body to support with them so that sort of makes up for it.

HAHAHA.... my 12 year old daughter can do many. many boys press ups but she is a gymnast and trains a lot! We were discussing this on the way to school today , how unusual it is for girls to have good upper body strength- but she has to lift another gymnast above her head and carry her (she does the 'Spellbound" type of gymnastics and is a 'base'- ie she lifts others!). I suppose lifting a violin must give you some arm muscles too.....

Did a search of the bottom of my handbag in search of spare change (pay day not until next week) and found a total of ?13.00 that had fallen through a hole in the material. Takeaway night I think.

Spending several hours with arms raised playing an instrument does make a difference - I used to have a lot more arm strength when I was a horn player, and a horn isn't that heavy. Stopping playing the horn has contributed greatly to my arm-weediness..

This evening I had a violin club get together and we played and then ate pancakes and not one of them stuck to the pan. That made me very happy indeed.

A saxophone lesson.

It was targeted not only at where I am technically in my playing, but also at my current emotional /psychological/motivational state. It took a degree of planning and preparation from my teacher, but I feel SO much better for it!
