I saw a Jay in our garden, only the second time in 23years. Beautiful looking birds.

More importantly mother-in-law (87) is much better and may get released from hospital soon - she has been in 7 weeks, and has meant my wife has had to stay down in Suffolk most of that time - only popping back twice to see our grandaughter, born the day before mother-in-laws accident. Of course Ive been down there a couple of weekends too.

And, going back a few posts, I studied To Kill a Mockingbird for O' level in 1978. I also studied Romeo and Juliet and my son did it this year for GCSE, but didn't want to compare notes. (And anyone remember The Sheldon Book of Verse? I think I still have mine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) My To Kill a Mockingbird is definitely my O'level copy.)

I'm playing in my first orchestral concert in over 20 years!!! And for the first time in public I'll be playing the viola.


I still don't know what I'm going to wear. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) The dress code is pink/mauve/purple/pale blue.... so I went shopping yesterday and came home with a lime-green blouse (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I guess I'll be the token bloke (wearing black) after all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I'm pretty happy (if exhausted this morning) after band practice last night - 3.5 hours next to the airport runway, with the "proper" soldiers practicing around us for the Queen's Birthday parade on the 9th June. Didn't make any huge marching errors, managed to keep straight too, and stand to attention most of the night...but must have played the National anthem about 30 times!! The regiment are doing a live gun salute (first in 12 years, I believe) so they are all nervous and doing it again...and again...and again!!

My husband said he was sick of the NA by the end of the night - he could hear it all from our lounge and was wondering what all the firing was about!

Chemistry exam was a piece of cake (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (though I made a silly error in one of the calculation questions and thus got the one after that wrong too, but with the right method!)
(Grade boundaries will be low because in the past three years the A* mark needed has been 25, 26 and 28 (out of 55!!), and most other people found this exam hard)
