I know there are a few of us "oldies" who subscribe to these forums, so if you will be celebrating your 65th birthday during this tax year, make sure that you inform your tax office, as you are entitled to get extra personal allowance, but they don't give it to you automatically. Apparently they hold insufficient information about you, though they seem to have plenty when it comes to wanting your money! I would recommend writing rather than phoning as in my experience they don't answer the phone - you just get a message saying how busy they are - try again later.

Good advice Suepea - although I am not quite there - I did continue National Insurance payments after the relevant date becuase I thought they would stop deducting it. Took some time to sort out.
