Hi, I am planning to take the DipABRSM (piano) in a year's time.I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding the pieces. I took my grade 8 way back in high school and for the last 7 years haven't taken any exams.Am planning to take the exam by being self taught(hope it won't be too difficult),since I am a Ph.D. student and don't have time for lessons!Does anyone know what the scales for the exams are?I'm assuming everything!

I don't think there are ANY scales for the DipABRSM! I'm not 100% sure as regards piano, but I had one of my recorder pupils taking it last year and there were certainly no scales for that - just a recital, quick study and viva.

Hi, all the pieces and requirements are in the syllabus which is available on this site. There are no scales but you do need to do a Viva Voce which requires in depth knowledge of the pieces, composers and the periods they are taken from. Its really not something I would want to tackle without a teachers help.
Best of luck |
