Hi all,

There is no real general question here at all, just an expression of feeling, so this may not even be the correct forum. For a VERY VERY long time I've had a longing to learn stringed instruments(typ violin). Right now I'm sitting at my desk listening to my favourite pieces music at I get that smile on my face and go all goose bumpy just listening to all the strings being played.

It's like I cant get home quick enough at the end of the day to pick my violin, I cant practice enough because my fingers wont let me. Picking up the violin I really REALLY just don't want to put it down again, cant get enough.

Does anyone else feel like this sometime/all the time. .

I know what you mean! I often play until my fingers hurt and won't play right. Hopefully they will begin to get used to it so I can play longer! I'm obessed with listing to my favorite music. If I'm not spending time with my daughter or husband I am on the forums, reading about violin or practicing or listining to music! I think it's a good thing, it incourages you to want to really work at it and you'll go far.

All the time! If someone mentions the word violin then im DESPERATE to go practise (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I've been known to be out with friends and go home to practise my violin (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) That's quite bad really isn't it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

It's like a baby, you want to nurture it and love it! lol I'm aweful I always get really happy when my daughter goes to bed because then I get uninterupted practice time and I don't get a child prodding at my violin as if to say 'give me violin mama' lol.

I love my violin so much, as though she were a person (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) But violins do have their own personalities and such whereas my flute and stuff didn't...

I often (whilst practicing) say to myself: ok, this is the LAST TIME I am going over this piece then 'I'll pack up for the day'

HALF AN HOUR LATER I've played the piece another 10 times and started playing something else (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

BUT I do occasionally feel tired (I have an extremely busy life) and think: ok, today I will give practicing a miss, I am just TOO TIRED (but this is only occasionally) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

She is a violin person (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I didn't wanna come across as crazy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) But i love my violin as much as i love some people (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) THAT worries me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)!

I know I'm crazy but I actually speak to it as if it were a person 'please don't squeek like that it hurts my ears' or 'why do you have to be horribly out of tune everytime I get you out of the case?' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

I don't really talk to her... but i talk ABOUT her like a person and treat her like a person (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I invested in a £400 case and silk pyjamas and a £50 maple shoulder rest for her, etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) She deserves the best (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Sometimes my friends will ask if they can have a go on her/look at her and i'm like 'well i'm not sure cause she's very shy and doesn't like strangers...' etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) they're like ummm okayyyy
What is your violin's name? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

My violin is a boy and his name is Figaro, my double bass is also a boy and his name is Gandalf (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
But I think in terms of 'crazyness' you go beyond me Ffliwt, as I don't talk about my violin as if it's a person, nor I speak to it (erm Terra LOL) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
