Because I want my violin lesson now and it's not until next week (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) It's like I pratice until it gets to late to practice and then I stop but I still keep ticking. Gah damn these town houses I can't wait until all the students have gone back home for the summer and then I can practice as long as I want to because there will be no one to disterb at night (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

But seriously does anyone else feel like 30 mins once a week is for ages to wait for the next lesson?

i decided on one hour every fortnight for my flute lessons. as well as allowing a longer lesson (30 minutes seems to be over before it's started), having more time between each lesson means i'm not always either "just had a lesson" or "about to have a lesson", which tends to happen with weekly lessons.

NO!
absolutely a big NO
my week definitely DOES NOT go too slow!
that is simply because I work too many hours and have never a minute for myself, I have to fight to find 1 hour to practice the violin and half an hour to practice the bass.
In fact this last week I have not had the time to practice violin at all!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
and this is not because I had lack of motivation or have been 'lazy' but simply because I 'really' don't have the time!
I have not sat in my own living room for well over 3 years now and have not watched telly for ONE second for longer than that.

But I do know what you mean, when you like something time to get to it seems much slower, only in my case it doesn't have the chance! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I'm with jojo on this.

The weeks go by so quickly.

I have a piano lesson and a violin lesson on a Monday.

Tuesday night is band practice, Friday night is orchestra.

Have to try and practice, pieces, scales, sight reading, orchestra stuff, most for 2 instruments and then there's that work thing I have to do and .......it's Monday again!!

Maybe it's my age but the weeks fly by, they never used to

I think it's because I have too much time >.> I just finished college and this is my first week off. I wish I had more things to do! That way I wouldn't feel like the week is going so slow. But right now all I have to do is play violin and go to music school (saturdays) take care of my daughter for 4 months (don't start uni until October). Practicing violin is fun, but I can only do it in the evening when baby has gone to bed because she knocks the music stand over or grabs at the violin. So my week does go very slow.

I wish I didn't have time to watch TV! Although all thats ever on is Little Einstines or Winny the pooh. I guess the Einstines are helping me remember my theory words lol.

70 x 52 = 3640 weeks in an lifetime if the biblical pronouncement is to be believed.

You definitely don't want them to go any faster.

I have one hour flute lesson once a fortnight. Because my flute teacher lives quite far away, it's easier for us to travel.

I find it great having a whole two weeks to practice. It means that I've really improved on a piece in between lessons.

With piano on the other hand, I have them once a week. On a Friday. I never really practice, because it always feels too near the last lesson somehow. I don't know why.

But I do empathise with you, sometimes when I'm really proud of getting a scale or piece to work, I can't wait till my next lesson to learn how to make it even better.

When I first started a week seemed to be about the right amount of time between lessons now it depends on what stage a piece is at. When I'm at the note learning stage there are times when I think I need an extra week between lessons but when it gets to the perfecting stage I sometimes feel I would like daily lessons as there are all sorts of little details I would like advice on.

I think you've 'hit the nail on the spot' Terra (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Once you start uni it might become different

ps how old is your daughter? obviously quite young if she goes round grabbing things (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Yep my daugher is 17 nearly 18 months. She loves to grab everything and if she doesn't get it she puts her self on the floor. If she is only 1 1/2 I'd hate to think what the terible twos will be like. It's best to get my practice done after she's gone to bed if I actually want to do anything. I userally practice from 7 until 8 or 9pm which I promptly stop because I don't want to upset the neighbors.

Aparently the next place my agency is moving me to is possibly semi detatched too so it will be no better there. If I had it my way I would probably pratice 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours at night but I only get 1-2 hours if babs goes to bed on time and then my fingers won't let me play anymore.

aaaawwww 18 months old (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
don't think about the terrible twos, it's just a 'myth', well, it can be...my son never had that stage so your daughter might not have it too! Mind you, my son NEVER had ONE tantrum in his life and never cried longer than one minute and if I said no he would just accept it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The practice you do will be enough for a long time if you use it wisely, I also would like to practice 3 to 4 hours a day but will never have the chance unless I was lucky enough to work part time and that will not happen for at least 10 years! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

She already has those tantrums. Every time I say no she throws herself down (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Hubby said terible twos are meant to be worse (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Can it seriously get any worse?
Anyway I am off for music school.
