Did anyone see the prog. on Ch4 last night? He's obviously talented, gifted and the other thing I can't think of at the moment. He 'conducted' himself in a manner entirely to his own satisfaction! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Now we have three threads running on this subject ! Where are the other two? I can't find them. For what it's worth, I think Prior is insufferable. His attitude in the first programme towards the vastly more experienced Ida Haendel and Giselle Brodsky showed what an arrogant chump he is. His music is derivative and dull. He's really an example of the dog that walks on its hind legs - of interest only because of his age, rather than his innate ability. Mozart he definitely ain't. |

In fact there are now four threads referring to this programme.
Two are in adult learners section 'Worlds Great Musical Prodigies' and 'Prodigies' The other is in 'Parents' section |

Yeah I know I've got a bee in my bonnet when posters do not check if there is always a thread running - must be my old age. I will shut up on this one now !! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) True, but then not all adult learners are parents, and not all parents are adult learners... and not all pianists are adult learners or parents (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

His web-site www.alexprior.co.uk should give you more than enough examples of his music and overall style. It will be interesting to hear the final concert (which took place last April) in next week's episode. Apparently the young pianist ('Jack') plays a movement from a Beethoven concerto.

How unfair to give so much talent to someone so arrogant and unpleasant. Aww, give the lad a chance! I come across far more unpleasant characters than Alex every day in school, with no corresponding talent! He'll grow up - lots of 16 year old boys are full of self-conceit. The programme is all about him, and I think if he'd tamely gone along with the advice given, people would have complained that he couldn't think for himself. Youngsters are famous for thinking they know it all, but 10 years down the line he will have matured a lot. |

Youngsters are famous for thinking they know it all, but 10 years down the line he will have matured a lot. He is already famous and well on the way to a stellar career. I doubt that the comments, on an obscure notice board, of an old wannabe pianist with a small fraction of his ability, will trouble him in the slightest. |
