Classical Concerts & Friends Options

Is it just me, or do others have the problem that few (if any) of their friends aren't interested in going to classical music concerts? Anyone interested in meeting to go to a concert? I've been alone a few times this year, but it's just not the same! I live in Surrey, so it'd prob have to be around here or in London.....

Sounds a great idea - although evenings are not always easy because of private teaching. But by all means let's explore the possibility.

You're not alone. I also attend concert by myself. Neither my friend nor my family interest in classical music. Too bad, we are from diiferent countries.

maggiemay - great! And I get to go with a teacher of 25 years experience! Quite agree weekday evenings not possible (although I don't teach late on a Friday, but weekends would be good). I'll see what's on and mail you some ideas. Bit busy up till Xmas preparing for my diploma, but a night out would be a very welcome break.

Yeah, me too! The only ones I have been to are the ones I have played in, where we were allowed to sit at the back after to watch the other bands/orchestras. That, and my friends are all into rock or punk etc

Actually, you can go by yourself. For me, I don't need a companion to an orchestra but warmly welcome anyone that will like to join me. I had also asked my family & friends to join me but all of them turned down. No point, waiting for someone, just goes & purchases a ticket and attends the concert. You will love it.

i live in surrey. in weybridge. id love to with you. i went to an amazing concert yesterday at the royal festival hall. it had stephen isserlis playing elgars cello concerto and the planets and something by butterworth. it was really good

I went to a really good concert tonight with the City of London Sinfonia and oboe soloist Nicholas Daniel, who played Vaughan Williams oboe concerto. Out of this world..... wish I could play like that. Amazing.

i went to see a Mozart concert last Sunday by the Mozart Festival Orchestra, it was called The Magic of Mozart by Candlelight. it was snesational! and of course im going to see EINAUDI IN 94 DAYS!! YAY!!!!

and i go on schools trips to see orchestras rehearse. so far we have seen Block's cello concerto, Sibelius 2nd symphony, Hummel's trumpet concert and Mozart's Symphony 41

whenver I feel that i want to listen to a concert i just go ahead even if I am alone, no point spending so much time waiting for someone's reply of joining me or not. But I still hope there's someone to accompany me... I live in Singapore... :D
