In October, Saturday 9th @ 11.15, I am organising a Vincent Billington appreciation concert with my Scarborough Library music group. Hopefully we will have around 8-10 people playing and singing. This is Maria's choice of concert. She wants amateur performances.

About to go on the calendar, listed as a forum event. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This is next Saturday : just giving it a gentle push (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks Barry. Tea/coffee & biscuits are available from 10.30. The concert is free but with a retiring collection towards a plaque we are providing to commemorate Vincent. The hall seats approx. 220 and we are expecting a near capacity audience.

It's a one hour programme with 4 pianists, spanish guitar, soprano, tenor, clarinet, two recorders and a cello. Our final rehearsal is on Wednesday morning so, I now hope all goes well on the day, we have done the practise. Also hoping we don't get another monsoon.

The Kingston U3A orchestra will be performing at the United Reformed Church in Kingston (Eden Street, which is in the town centre), this Sunday, from 3pm-4:30pm, playing Bach, Beethoven and Raff. Thanks to performer Suepea for the information. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

For anyone who's interested, there's going to be an instrument taster day at the Yorkshire College of Music & Drama in Leeds on Saturday 11 December, 11am-2pm. There will be a range of instruments to try out, including:

- clarinet
- flute
- recorder
- saxophone
- piano
- violin
- guitar

I don't know which members of the recorder/sax families will be there but any questions, give the college a ring on 0113 243 1605.

Some of the teachers will be there as well to give advice.

The new location for the Yorkshire College of Music & Drama is opposite the Engineering building of the University of Leeds:

1 St Mark's Avenue
Leeds LS2 9BN

(but please note that if you're taking exams at the college, this session's exams are being held at the previous location on Shire Oak Road)

I'm going to ask for this calendar to be unpinned and the 2011 calendar to be pinned in its place after taxidriver's house party this Sunday. Hope you've all had fun in 2010! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
