But still lacking a full stop on the end of the sentence?
*sigh* Am I pedantic? I found myself mid-rant today over a smoothie advert that said something along the lines of: "Our smoothies aren't pasteurised (BOILED at 60 dC) so are healthier than the ones in bottles in shops." (boiling has a very specific meaning, even a nice thick gloopy smoothie is pretty unlikely to start boiling at 60 dC) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) |

But still lacking a full stop on the end of the sentence? I'm afraid that is the case. W (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

But... you wouldn't pasteurise something in a low pressure environment... It'd just add to your cost, and not kill off bacteria any differently!

Am I pedantic? Yes... but you say it as if it's a bad thing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) My (leats) favourite is: "Panini's" Just don't even get me started on everything that's wrong with that! |

Oh, those sorts of things really bug me too. What I find funny is when I see something like "carrot's" next to "turnips" - if they're going to make mistakes, at least be consistent!! My (leats) favourite is: "Panini's" Just don't even get me started on everything that's wrong with that! This is one that particularly annoys my OH. Needless to say the rest of the family make a point of referring to "a panini" or "paninis" whenever we can.... We don't say the apostrophe though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ! |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I know! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) *headdesk* it defies logic! This is one that particularly annoys my OH. Needless to say the rest of the family make a point of referring to "a panini" or "paninis" whenever we can.... We don't say the apostrophe though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ! I used to entitle PMs "Panini's" if I wanted to ensure a fellow-grammar pedant would delete the message and leave some room in his inbox: I knew there was no way he could stand to see it every time he went to his messages. Worked a treat (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Urggh, I get so annoyed about these things. At the age of 14, it isn't great to get annoyed about apostrophes.
I always get annoyed about their there and they're. Whenever my friends tell me to read through their essays, or poems, or stories or something, I have to stop myself trying to correct these, because it really annoys them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) |
