Hello Everyone
Sorry that I haven't been on here the last few days, but to be honest I just couldn't face it. I got back from my sister's funeral on Tuesday, I am so pleased that I went, to be honest I just don't think I was thinking straight in the beginning. My brother in law asked me to take part in reading out a Eulogy that he had written which I accepted. I did make a good job and managed to get through it without breaking down, difficult towards the end but I made it. I didn't make eye contact with anyone and just blocked myself off whilst I read it out aloud. There were 150 people at the service and only 6 from England, 2 from France, my son and his wife and all the rest were her friends in Spain. Considering she has only been out there for 3 years she had made some wonderful friends that loved her. I managed to get to see my sister before the service and say goodbye to her and leave her some things to go with her, one which included a letter that I had started to write before she left us. Once again I would like to take this opportunity to thank my dear friends on this forum that have been there for me, have prayed for my sister and been in your thoughts. Thank you so much. I have my summer school to go to a week today, so I am hoping that will let me get on with things as at the moment I am finding things so very tough, and trying to take each day as it comes. Tomorrow I am at church as I am on Sunday school duty, hopefully I may find some answers in my heart after that. Really behind with my OU work, have asked for an extension but just hope that I can get through it. ET |

Sounds like it was an excellent tribute to your sister.
Good luck with your church and OU work, and take care of yourself. |

Look after yourself ET. You've done absolutely everything you could. Just take one day at a time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thereThere.gif)

Thanks for the update, eldatom; I've been wondering how it went. I'm glad you made the decision to go, as it was obviously the right thing for you.
Hope your OU work goes well and that church will help you feel more peaceful. |

Chin up, ET, at least it's some closure. Time is a a great healer. I've been to more funerals than I can count on both hands in the past 5 years. I think I have just become extremely pragmatic as a result. It's beyond your control so just cherish the good memories (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I may have come to this thread a little late but would just like to say that I am sure in time the rembrance of the funeral service will bring peace. In the meantime, take Bagpuss's words to heart and be kind to yourself.

Don't expect too much of yourself for a while - though you might find things start to get into perspective now this hurdle is past.
Try and enjoy your course. You're allowed to have fun sometimes no matter how deep the prevailing gloom. Take care x |

I'm new to the forum so I am not familiar with what happened with your sister but I just wanted to offer my condolances to you at this sad time. I hope you have people around you who can help you through this time.
My sincere sympathies Marie |
