OK...I should think you'll come up with plenty of thoughts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Barry, have you tried that piece I sent you yet? Methinks it might make people want to go to the pub if you play it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Not yet : but I will get there! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Are you bringing it at weekend?

In all probability, yes, but it will still be totally unlooked at. I'm on a serious clarinet practising run at the moment, for fairly obvious reasons! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Thanks to the Royal Fail losing what I'd ordered, I had to wait a while for the edition of Chopin's Op.72 No.1 that I wanted to come through.

I gave up on the downloaded version I had because it just seemed impossible to figure out, but now the edition I ordered has arrived, it seems a lot easier as there are finger markings all over the place! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Page 1 + 2 look ok... 3 onwards looks like it'll be brain damage material and I'll end up giving up again.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Royal Fail

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

As for me - Mozart A major sonata, 1st movement (theme and variations). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I'm ignoring the octaves in Variation 3. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

I have spent the last week and a half working on the first Chopin Ballade, and very little else. Aim: transform it from "muddles through reasonably OK" to "fit to perform anywhere". (Not yet achieved!)

Piano playing is indeed an athletic activity - moreso than I thought.

For the first time since returning to serious piano study I am simply physically unable to do 4 hours of daily practice - at least not on this one piece. My forearms and hands ache too much after sustained work on the Prestissimo and the other fast sections.

I dare not even think what a similar intensity of work on Rachmaninov No 3 would do to my poor body.

Well I had a look at it a couple of nights ago. You have taken on a tough job there! It is not an easy piece at all. Those trills and runs, and free rhthms in the second half are a challenge for anyone.

I'll be happy to get through page 1 and 2 for now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) My brain explodes looking at those runs.
