So, my dear old Dad bought me Sibelius 5. Sealed etc, unused, but it turns out that it's the educational(?) version, (able to be loaded on up to five non-networked computers) not the professional/private version.
Now, I'm a piano teacher, and expect/want to use it for work but I don't know what to do when I register it. I'm not a college or university! (Saving is disabled after 12 days or something until it's registered). I've only just got a computer capable of running it, so only started looking at it, he bought it months ago. The Sibelius website wasn't any help, I could only find information about Sibelius 6, and even at that it wasn't very helpful as to who/what is eligible for which license. Gahhhhh... Is there anyone who has used this who can help or give me information? I have a horrible feeling I'll fill in the registration form only to have a popup say "You cannot use this. HAHAHAHAHAHA!" I'm guessing it's still the full version Alder : 'educational' refers to the fact it was purchased with an educational discount, and is intended for use by instrumental and/or classroom teachers in schools.
I shouldn't think you'll have a problem loading it onto your computer. Do you work in schools at all? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

It's loaded up all right, it's the registration process that concerns me a little. I don't even want to start using it till I'm (more) sure, 'cause it'd be so disappointing to get attached to it and then have the save function disabled. There's a section - it's written out in the manual - where you have to say whether it's owned by you personally, or by your school/college/university/church/business or other organisation. The sticker on the disc says "These five copies may only be used on a single school, college or university site." Which I find scary. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) I've just revisited the Sibelius site, and there's not a WORD about Sibelius 5...so that's not very helpful... |

Is there a phone number to ring them up? Several years ago I rang them about something and found them really helpful. There must be a help desk or something - or see if there's a bit of the website where you can ask them for help.
