Oh yes I watch the repeats as well. I remember watching it as a small child on sunday evenings.

I thought he was from east Lancs. His accent isn't very Scousey Wirral. Or are you thinking of Stan Boardman?

Blockbusters is my favourite, with Bob Holness. It's proof that a great telly quiz that's educational and has a cult following amongst students can be cheap and low budget (unlike Deal...)

Why can't ITV make great programmes any more???

my favourite bit of blockbusters was the rare occasions when everybody did the hand jive at the end to the theme music (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (I was quite small at the time and didn't know most of the answers).

I also used to like Going for Gold with Henry Kelly... I liked all of the flags.

they did the hand jives in the later series. I used to watch it every day on what used to be called Central from 1983 (I'd be around 13 then), and in the first series the sweatshirts and dictionaries carried the words 'Blockbusters 1983'. Was never repeated in subsequent series. Also the maximum amount of Goldruns a contestant/team could do were reduced from 5 to 3.

Bobs Full House was so bad it was absolutely brilliant. I wish Challenge would buy those old tapes up!

now, I'm watching Michael Kiwanuka on Youtube. the English Terry Callier.

And trying to sort through all this music on my hard drive I've forgotten I'd got, like these Steve Miller band relics. Radio Caroline's old overnight album rock service on 963 AM used to be the only station in England that would play Steve Miller and it was there I heard his 'Jet Airliner'. I guess 6 Music would do so nowadays.

It's just been announced on BBC news that Bob Holness has died. How strange that we were just talking about him.

how very very sad - and what a great bloke he was too. He started out on Radio 1's late Night Extra before moving to do the AM show on LBC with Douglas Cameron.

His daughter Ros was part of Toto Coelo in the 80s (I Eat Cannibals)
