Got half an ear/eye on the tennis, the rest of me is attempting to arrange some music for a (very (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)) mixed ability flute ensemble.

Doom.

One part is on one note....

Just back from the tip and having a cup of tea.

Despite appearances to the contrary, it's been dry all day,so:
  • I've cut one of the front lawns
  • Edged the lawn (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)
  • Removed wall flowers and weeds from round bed
  • Re-mulched round bed and Amelanchier
  • Removed "sticky" weeds from the large front bed (I've never encounered this stuff until this year)
Then approached the chamber of horrors which is my back garden (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) . It's on a steep slope and desperately needs landscaping and a big retaining wall needs building. That way I could nuke the lawn. It's been so wet that I've not been able to mow it for four weeks, and the big border is worse... so..
  • One mowing on high blade setting. Completely filled my green bin, which was empty at the start of this
  • Cut back the dogwoods and discovered I have 5 stunning clematis in full flower (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Peony is nearly out
  • Trimmed the weeping birch
  • Gave the main section of the lawn a second cut with lower blades. Took off another SIX large bin bags of cuttings (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
So now you know why I've just got back from the tip!

Well I was watching the tennis until the referee finally realised that Nadal was going to murder him if play wasn't stopped because of the weather (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

You don't want to try where I work then. Campus site, three miles from the nearest town, on-site caterers have a monopoly. Sandwiches more expensive and not as good as M&S, main meals can be over GBP5.

Sandwiches/Soup is 1.5GBP and mains are 3GBP. Plus my office is very close to the kitchen, some people have come from upstairs or downstairs. The only downside is that it is popular so you had better get there prompt at 12:30 or soon after or it will all be gone....
