I was on the verge of starting a thread on chirality and its influence, if any, on the strengths and weaknesses of playing different instruments, but then it occurred to me to search for same.

Quite apart from handedness in humans, some crystals show chirality in the direction in which they grow, as do certain plants.

Ooh we are talking posh aren't we.
Actually you also get chirality in chemical structures . eg I sell a product called D-Limonene, where the D is 'dextra'. There is also L Limonene and a mixed DL Limonene. Its to do with the orientation of the atoms in the structure.

Matters on sight-reading fill the threads because many musicians feel that it a comparative weakness in their musical armoury. Were the ability to improvise called upon to a similar degree, then that would be the topic of the day.

I don't fear the impending Quick Study for my DipABRSM, in fact I surmise that that for LRSM wouldn't fill me with dread either and I'd hope to make a good stab at the FRSM contribution too. However, ask me to improvise on the simplest, most well-known of tunes and I'd be petrified, because I've never practised the art.
