Viola Book L'alto Classique Vol.c Options

Hello

The L'Alto Classique vol.C text includes one of the recommended pieces for viola grade 6.

I wondered if this book contained any other good pieces of a similar level.

I am looking for a book of 6/7 standard pieces, by many composers, like the violin abrsm books.

Hi snj,

I'm currently between grade 5 and grade 6 standard on the viola and I own L'Alto Classique Vol C. I have found it really useful and have played both of the pieces from it that are on the AB grade 6 syllabus. It is a nice collection (and pieces from it seem to appear regularly at forum adult learner concerts!) and even though it is quite expensive I think it is worth the money.

Other books that feature in the Grade 6 syllabus that I have found good value as they contain a number of pieces I want to play include Solos for the Viola Player, arr. Doktor (another collection of pieces by different composers) and the wonderful Shorter Pieces for Viola and Piano by Rebecca Clarke (all by the one composer, but very good viola stuff!) Both of these books contain pieces on the current AS Grade 5, 6 and 7 syllabi.

There is so much great music at this level, I feel like I am spoilt for choice.

There's also L'Alto Classique vol.B, I wondered if this text was for lower grades/short pieces?

Or contains different style/period of music than the vol. C
