The Players for Pleasure web site is now www.playersforpleasure.co.uk and the old site has been removed - I'd be grateful if you could change the link please Barry.

As those of you know who came to the last Leeds concert, the college where the concerts have been held for the last few years is planning to move premises. I'd like to organise something at the current college before they move, which may be later this year or even early next year, but I can't fix a date just yet.

I also have in mind to organise one or two events like Dyrham Park and Dunster Castle, but again I can't confirm dates just yet.

Are these likely to be the venues, or shall I leave the Players for Pleasure entry on the calendar as it is for now?

They're just examples of the type of event so the entry is fine, thanks, apart from the web site address.

Any suggestions as to a date for the Harrogate event barry-clari? Now that the E word is over I'll try and think more about this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'll have a chat to you : there's lots of space to place an event or two (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm sure between both of us that we'll come up with something good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yay.gif)

JANUARY

Saturday 29 : Central London (W1) : Woodwind playday, organised by the East London Clarinet Choir, Regent Hall, Oxford Street, W1. Artistic director : Shea Lolin. 10am-5pm. Tutors : James Rae, Sarah Markham, Paul Harris, Guy Woolfenden OBE. This is an excellent event, which I can highly recommend.

FEBRUARY

Saturday 5 : Central Manchester: Woodwind playday, organised by the East London Clarinet Choir, Royal Northern College of Music, Oxford Road, Manchester. Artistic director : Shea Lolin. 10am-5pm. Tutors : Paul Harris, Richard Ingham, James Rae. This is an excellent event, which I can highly recommend.

Both these events now on the calendar, along with a thread in Viva Woodwind. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Barry, I'd be grateful if you could add the following event to the Calendar please...

==========

The first Players for Pleasure event of 2011 will be a CONCERT in LEEDS on SATURDAY 8th JANUARY. As usual, it will be a full day event, with a mix of solos, duets, small ensembles and large ensembles. The morning will be taken up with rehearsals and socialising, and the concert will take place in the afternoon, followed by a meal.

The venue is The Yorkshire College of Music & Drama. Their web site is currently being rebuilt in the light of their impending move to new premises. The new venue is on the corner of St Mark's Avenue and Woodhouse Lane, Leeds LS2 9BN (opposite the top end of Leeds University). (EDIT: if you are taking music exams at the College, please note that exams may continue to be held at Shire Oak Road in Headingley - please check with the College.)

The length and number of slots has not yet been determined as this post is just to give advance notice of the date and a broad outline of the event.

NEWBIES
To get a flavour of what happens at the concert, the information about the last concert in June is on the Players for Pleasure web site, including all the arrangements, the concert programme and a selection of photographs of the performers. It is likely that the next concert on January 8th will be broadly similar (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This will be the 7th Leeds concert and they're always lots of fun and very friendly. It's a great way of starting to get performance experience in a supportive and friends/family-only environment, so if anyone else is interested in coming who hasn't already expressed interest, please do contact me, either by email preferably, or by PM (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party1.gif)

Looking forward to meet lots of new and old friends at the next event (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party1.gif)

PS. In case "old hands" don't read the Newbies paragraph, photographs from the June concert are now on the Players for Pleasure web site!

There is now an entry for your January 8th event on the calendar, skylark. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Also *excited* added to the calendar is the beginnings of an event in Central Scotland next year, organised by muzikalbadger, who has really begun to set the wheels in motion here... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Thanks, but just one snag - it doesn't say January on the calendar!

Thank you.

Anyone thinking of coming to the Leeds concert might like to know that I've put some pictures of the new venue for the Yorkshire College of Music & Drama on the Players for Pleasure web site, together with directions and a map (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I can now flesh this out a little. By Central Scotland, we're meaning Glasgow, and we have a preferred date, but this won't be publicised until the venue's confirmed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
