All your event information is now on the calendar skylark, also now on the calendar is our first ever splash of blue in the form of muzikalbadger's forum concert in Glasgow on 10th April! There's already a thread for this in the general music forum. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

QUOTE(skylark @ Sep 13 2010, 10:32 PM) *

Could you put a couple of dates on the Players for Pleasure calendar please, Barry...

I'm planning another National Trust event in the Spring, similar to the Dyrham Park event in April this year. I'm aiming for April again next year... actual date, venue and other details to be confirmed.

[...snip]

Details of previous National Trust events and the Leeds concerts are on the Players for Pleasure web site - www.playersforpleasure.co.uk

QUOTE

There are also plans for a Dyrham Park style recital/concert somewhere in the UK for around April sort of time.

Barry, could I ask you to put my National Trust event down on the calendar under April rather than as a footnote to the Leeds summer concert, otherwise it's likely to get missed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) And for those people who aren't aware of what Dyrham Park is, it would be better to make it clear that it's a National Trust event, as I mentioned.

It would be helpful if the entry could read:

APRIL
An event is planned to take place at a National Trust property, similar to the event which took place at Dyrham Park in April 2010. The actual date, venue and other details will be confirmed in due course.

Thank you.

Had a bit of a tidy up in the calendar, and I've added a couple of events to the 'others' category : the UK Saxophone Congress, in Greenwich (Feb 19/20) and the first performance of the Market Harborough Orchestra (Jan 22). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The "Stringathon"

Vaughan Williams wrote the Concerto Grosso in 1950 for a performance by the
Rural Schools Music Association, for all levels of ability, from the very
young and inexperienced to professional level.

Joined Up Thinking Projects Music (www.jutp.org) are organising a world
record attempt at Crealy Adventure Park on 12th February 2011
, in which
string players of any level and any age will join together to play the
Concerto Grosso at 5:30pm. There is part for everyone (even parents), from
easy open string parts to concerto parts. It is hoped that this event will
beat the 400 players that originally performed this work.

Practice copies will be sent in advance. You may arrive at any time during
the day to enjoy the facilities at Crealy. Gather from 4:30pm in the
Adventure Zone, and the String-a-thon will start at 5:30pm.

You can register in advance via sally.grandison@talktalk.net. The cost is ?1
for performers, who get FREE entry to Crealy for the day! Family members
who come along get "top rate" discount.

^ with thanks to karslima, this event is now on the events calendar.
