'Roundelay' by Veljo Tormis - it's on a new CD that I got yesterday and I find it totally gorgeous and utterly mesmerising. Having treated it as a good dictation exercise, I've written it down in solfa stick notation and now can't get it out of my head at all - woke up in the middle of the night hearing it..

Ukranian Bell Carol. We're playing it at orchestra and and band at school. Even though both arrangements are quite nice, it gets quite irritating. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

The two songs the little blighters in the choir are singing at a concert this afternoon for which they don't know the words. Have just been making prompt cards!

From the hymn "Herr, ich bin dein Eigentum", specifically the last part "V?terlich, f?hrst du mich auf des Lebens Wegen"
It modulates nicely from D major to A major at that point and then back again. Love it! A real "Ohrwurm" as they say around here (Ear worm meaning a catchy tune that sticks in your head) |

Now I'm stuck with the 'Timmy Time' theme tune mixed with 'Thomas the Tank Engine' at least my 3 yr old friend has reasonable taste in telly.

I have a (IMG:style_emoticons/default/violin.gif) tune going round in mine. ###### of the North. Ok, if the forum won't let me write that let's see if it likes Cockerel of the North!
