I have just been told by my local music shop that a piece of music I am looking for 'purple bamboo melody' is out of print...

This is tragic! How can it be out of print when its on a blimmin' syllabus???

And I won't even see my teacher until the first week of february...

I can't even find it on the internet, I've tried all the music websites with a good reputation... Can anyone shed any light on the mystery of the missing music?

*and no, that wasn't supposed to sound like the title of one of Enid Blytons famous five novels...*

Did they list the publisher in the repertoire?

Sorry, can't offer any more help on the subject...

Found it in Canada at http://www.rideaumusic.com/product-227894

Now I'm intrigued - I'll have to listen to it!

This is like when I tried to get Suite de Ballet, it had just been made out of print, and then over the summer, it came back into print. I just found it by chance though. Have you emailed AB and asked for a supplier?

The syllabus is unhelpful... all it says is "traditional".

This reminds me of trying to get 'Keytunes for Viola' because it had a grade 5 piece in it (Ballet Music). I ordered it from my local music shop in July and it still hadn't come by October. After several angry phone calls from my teacher (the 'why the H_E_L_L haven't you got this, it's on the syllabus?' sort) she managed to get it from an Internet site!

What about postage as well, you will have to pay for the shipping if it comes from Canada.

Yes, I thought of that, taking the price up to about $30, but I completely forgot about the mail order at All Flutes Plus, more convienently placed in london than Canada. (I only know because I asked our conductor about it)

If its a wind or brass piece (can't tell from your post) try June Emerson

to get the website, just type "June Emerson" into Goggle

thats for the uk tho, again can;t tell where you're from from the post

hope that helps, she's really good and gets it to you within about 4 days

if its out of print then unless the stockist already has a copy you wont be able to order it in from most places.

Don't forget that the price is (I assume!) in Canadian $ so it's just over £11, not the nearly £14 it would be if it was US$.

Hope you manage to get hold of it! :)
