I don't think you have to be an adult learner to play at a forum event!

*excited to have an event close to home*

Depends on the event : I'm sure scotliz will be along to confirm soon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

PianoNotes : the National Express coach service is a viable alternative to/from Gloucester (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This one is specifically billed as an Adult Learners event. Although I am an adult and still learning, I don't think that's quite what is meant!! Which is why I said I'm happy to turn up if anyone needs a violist in order to have a bash at some quartets or somesuch.

Viola Mad, I think you HAVE TO COME to this one, if only just so that we can meet you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)
(and yes please I'd love to hear your viola too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif))

Well then, perhaps we should hook up and play a piece for violin, viola and percussion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

My boss decided to retire at the end of May so now it looks as though I am not going to be in the UK for this! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
Too bad, as there are almost never Forum events near my Mum or my Dad, where I mostly hole up in the UK...

I'm keeping a watchful eye on other events over the summer, though. I do hope to be home for two or three weeks at some point.

There will be the Stalybridge Adult learners concert on July 23rd if you want to pencil that in your diary.

I am interested in attending this event, Scotliz. I will be happy to do a flute duet, join an ensemble and play piano accompaniments if required. I have put the 4th June in my diary.

[I have put Stalybridge in my diary, too, sbhoa!]

I keep looking in here longingly... I am so miffed that I won't be able to make this event. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Especially as a lot of people I'd like to meet in person will be going. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I still don't have my UK trip planned yet but I'm keeping an eye on July... knowing my luck it will be put back to August and there are no Forum events for that month on the calendar...

I'd like to ask a silly question:

How do people go about getting their act together in duets and ensembles? Do you find ways of meeting up in the run up to the concert to practice? Or do you just go it alone and try and put it together during the time before the concert on the day? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I was wondering whether on earth it could work for me to join in a Forum concert day when I have no hope of being able to practice with anyone really, living just a wee bit far away. Playdays are great because it's just meet and play on the day...

It would be good to add something to skylark's explanatory thread ("Forum concerts and other events") on how folks can prepare for these events but unfortunately she is no longer with us here on the Forum to edit it.

The only ones I've been to are the ones Skylark organised. For the duets and the ensembles I took part in, we all had the parts before hand so we could practise and then just had a rehearsal together on the morning of the concert.
