Well I've hit the point where I'm not sure what more to do before the big day which is now less than 48 hours away!!!
Last lesson is over (yesterday) and was truly awful, lip went and session was full of squeaks - I felt like a useless beginner! so embarrassed and disgusted with myself - although no worse than before my dip when i scored a surprise distinction! The run throughs with my brilliant accompanist are going well though and the programme notes and research are all done. Sight read my was through all the studies I have and some of the FRSM tricky pieces i've never seen before too. Programme is Milhaud Duo, Poulenc Sonata , Weber Concerto No2 - so quite a full on non stop 45 mins! I'm playing through only once a day at the 10am slot i need to perform it on the day. So to all the experienced folk out there is there anything at all i seem to have missed or should i just stop worrying now and enjoy the experience? I feel like i still haven't done enough or is that just obsessive perfectionism? |

Goood Luck Clari_notts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I hope you're able to do your very best on the day. I'd say just trust in your skills and in the preparation you've already done - confidence makes all the difference. If your wanting to prevent burnout but feel like you need to practice more then maybe do some mental practice away from the instrument? It never hurts to know your pieces even more thoroughly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Good Luck again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (extra luck never hurts either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) |

I feel like i still haven't done enough or is that just obsessive perfectionism? I would say that shows you care. I wish you all the best (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I wish you the best of luck.
You will probably be fine; you did well in your dip so hang onto that fact and try to enjoy the music once you get started. |

The main thing is to enjoy your performance. How often do you get a chance to perform for that length of time?! Your programme sounds lovely - I'd like to be a fly on the wall! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Preparation time is over, so just go for it and have a wonderful time. |

Thanks all for the words of encouragement, today was D-day and all seemed to go well.
The examiners as always were welcoming and lovely making me feel relaxed and able to do my best, a few momentary lapses (as we all have) but on the whole a good effort i feel! The Viva was stretching and tested the background research and performance approach quite deeply but the quick study not too tricky (probably a sympathy vote for a very taxing programme!) all i have to do now is wait till the 7th February for the result - it's like slow water torture! |
