Hey all

I have a cheapo electric violin I want to sell. Having had bad experiences with ebay in the past I kinda wanted to avoid them if I could lol. Anyone know which sites are good for moving instruments to loving new homes?

I sucessfully sold an electic cello with http://www.musicalinstrumentsales.co.uk/
It was a fixed price for the advert, I chose one with photos in it. The advert runs for a set period of time and if you haven't sold, you can re-run it. I sold mine before the expiration, so got the advert taken down early.

Your email address isn't on display - they have to fill in a form to contact you and don't get to see your email address - which is good. I did get a few obviously-spam emails about people "interested to buy your eclectric cello" (and one enquiring about my trombone. Dear spammer, if you are going to copy and paste your text, do remember to replace the words that need changing!)

I wish there was a general sales website because I've got quite a few 'bits and bobs' that could be of use to other people: like a cheap viola case and a couple of chinrests etc.

That website will be useful when I upgrade my viola (not for a while because saving up is tricky at this time of year... just bought a new jumper in the sales (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) ) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I have a violin that I could sell and thought this site looked interesting. But I've always wondered about shipping charges and whether there is a need for a return policy. Does anyone have any experience of these issues?

In spite of your reservations about ebay, we sold an electric violin quite successfully on ebay about a year ago.

I sold 2 acoustic violins and 1 electric violin last year on ebay with no problems and at the price I was happy with (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
