Hi there,
I'm new to the forum, (mature beginner], I have just picked up my violin for the first time in about 6/7 years. I've found a tutor, and had my first lesson last week, which went well, but I need to replace some of the accessories that have disappeared, over time such as rosin etc., can anybody recommend a cheap but reliable online shop? Thanks for any help. |

Hi Welcome to the forum and back to playing.
I can suggest a few but my favourite of the moment is http://www.alangregory.co.uk/ because they were so friendly helping me chose my viola case over the phone. Bits and bobs I get from http://www.stringmail.co.uk/ or http://www.thestringzone.co.uk/ both are excellent and usually have very fast delivery. |

I'm about 5 on the violin and 4 on the viola but I mostly play viola these days.
Joining an orchestra next week! - Excited but a bit scared (although I've done a lot of orchestral playing on the clarinet years ago). |

I reached about grade 4 before I gave up, and played in an orchestra, I loved it, although I found it difficult keeping up the pace. You'll have a great time. It's funny you mention the clarinet, before returning to the violin, I was planning on learning clarinet, even purchased a secondhand one, but spent months and months looking for a tutor in my area, but gave up the search, will defintely begin the search again at a later date, but I want to see how far I can go with the violin first. |
