There are some strange noises that some oboists make when they are playing.
I have never been able to make the frying pan noise, so I don't know what causes it, but it is something to do with the reed. It sounds like something frying, especially something wet that is causing the oil to spit. Has anyone experienced this? Do you know what causes it? |

Usually sorted out with a swab through and some cigarette paper. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I've heard my son make that noise with his sax reed. He usually takes it out and cleans it - probably it's a spit thing.

It isn't the octave boxes. Different sound, just like fat spitting in a frying pan. Quite loud and I find very annoying. |
