Unregistered	Has anybody managed to easily find a piano tuner that can do much more than tune the piano ? It's a bit like having a car mechanic who can only change the oil and spark plugs. It seems to be a dying art. I only realised what else could be done fairly recently. It doesn't seem to matter whether your piano is new or old - a bit of voicing can improve it. I have a new Yamaha U3S which has now settled in and been played heavily a few years, the odd note sounds very slightly different to the rest - louder, softer or twangy, it's to mistake it for uneven playing. A good piano tuner would adjust the softness of the felt on the hammers, re-install some of the strings, fine tune the action action etc. If anybody knows how I could find a really good one in southern Hampshire, please let me know.

Unregistered	I have not used it, but I seem to remember seeing a piano tuners' section on the EPTA website. Don't know if this will help, but worth a look Maggie

Unregistered	I use Chappell of Bond St and it is where I bought my piano. They have a piano tuning department and the tuner I have is top class. Does all the bits you mentioned above... and more! They operate outside London. No, I do not have an interest... simply a very satisfied customer keen to pass on good service to other forum users. Telephone is probably on their website via Google!

Unregistered	Only thing to do if you are searching round is to check that whoever you bought the piano from doesn't have exclusive rights on tuning and maintenance during the guarantee period. I rang a London firm of piano sellers about getting someone in to do a one-year service and they refused to even quote unless I could confirm that the firm I bought it off didn't have such a hold.

Yes, me too, and their prices are comparable to our local ones (ie Sussex).
