Bargiel's - "Adagio" - a beautiful piece. I have a CD with Steven Isserlis playing it - always transports me somewhere else! |

Tassimo, watch Jacqueline Du Pre play the Elgar cello concerto on Youtube. You'll learn something (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Also a wonderful piece is the Hofmann cello concerto, see Sol Gabetta play a section of it in rehearsal on YouTube. |

Now you have your re-nowed cello book by Tortelio (sorry cannot remember how to spell his name) - you will be fab-u-lus. Anyone remember him - he used to give master classes on t.v. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) |

How about some jazz, Tassimo?
Search Youtube for the Rastrelli Cello Quartet playing 'Take Five'. They're excellent. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

In fact, just buy his EMI recordings box set, that pretty much covers the bases for standard Cello repertoire (no jazz though...) |

Have you had a go at this piece? They are great and an absolute inspiration. I think that I wouldn't mind have a go at some jazz now. |

I thought I'd give it a go ... in a few thousand years. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) But they're great aren't they! I sent the link to my teacher, who also really liked it. I'm looking forward to getting a bit better, so I can start to improvise on the cello. Right now, though, I'd be happy if I got first position intonation right now and then.
